Mike Purvis is a 2001 graduate of Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy, Pearl Ms. He is currently a Lieutenant with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department in the patrol division, and currently on staff as an instructor with the training division. He is currently on the staff as an instructor with Columbia Law Enforcement Training Academy. He has 21 years of law enforcement experience and brings 13 years of law enforcement training experience. He is a State Certified Law Enforcement Instructor with the State of Mississippi Minimum Standards and Training. He is currently certified in Law Enforcement handgun, shotgun, patrol rifle, Basic SWAT, Advanced SWAT, Tactical Driving, Tactical Vehicle Intervention, Stinger spike strip, Response to Active Shooter, and unknown traffic stops. He served on Lamar County Special Response Entry Team for 10 years and retired as a Master Operator and the SRT Commander of Entry. He also served on Lamar County A.C.E team (Active Community Enhancement) which focused on high crime areas and narcotic investigations. He is married to Tabatha Purvis and has five children. In his time off he enjoys his time at the hunting camp and bass fishing.
