Jason Kessler is a 1997 graduate of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi. Kessler is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement where he brings 21 years of law enforcement training experience. During his career, Kessler has worked patrol, narcotics, investigations, training, and administration.
Kessler began his career at Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Columbia, Mississippi in 1996 as a patrol deputy. He rose to the rank of Captain in the patrol division where he also served as the department’s firearms instructor. In 2001, he became Major of Operations and remained in that position for 4 years. In 2005, Kessler was promoted to Chief Deputy where he remained until leaving in 2007. Kessler organized and commanded the first certified Special Response Team for the department in 2006.
Kessler began working at Lamar County Sheriff’s Office in 2008. During this time, he became a member of the training staff. He also served on the Special Response Team for 8 years. He retired from the team as a Master Operator and the SRT Commander of Entry. Kessler served as a Sergeant and then a Lieutenant in the patrol division. He is currently a Captain with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office administrative division where he serves as Director of Training.
Jason Kessler is a Staff Instructor with Columbia Law Enforcement Training Academy. He is a State Certified Law Enforcement Instructor and is a Law Enforcement handgun, shotgun, rifle, and tactical Master Firearms Instructor. He is married to Misty Kessler and is the father of two daughters, Karlee and Kassidy.
