The Field Training Officer Course is a five-day program designed to instruct selected officers in their roles as Field Training Officers (FTO). The FTO training will emphasize the FTO’s role as a mentor, coach, and evaluator in recruiting police officers. This course of instruction consists of classroom discussion, break-out sessions, a research project, and hands-on application of training materials. Attendees will also learn how to modify the FTO program to meet their department’s individual needs.
